About Ron

Ron Blanchard is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor at Olive Tree, with over 20 years of clinical experience and more than 40 years as a resident of Eastern North Carolina. He holds a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Capella University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.

Ron is a retired Marine Master Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran, and that background shapes how he shows up for his clients. He works with older teens (17-18) and adults of all ages, with deep experience in trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and grief. He has worked with clients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and previously served as Clinical Director for Region One, TASC, covering 32 counties along the North Carolina coast.

His Approach

Ron's clinical approach is holistic and integrative, drawing from EMDR, CBT, REBT, Motivational Interviewing, Gestalt Therapy, and Solution-Focused counseling. At its foundation is Client-Centered Therapy rooted in Carl Rogers' principle of unconditional positive regard. He is a sounding board, an encourager, and a coach, and his goal is to help clients reach a state of genuine emotional balance and wellbeing.

He puts it this way: "One of the greatest joys of my life is being part of, and witnessing the process of, regeneration of other human beings from mental and spiritual confusion and unwellness to a state of homeostasis and strength; it fills my heart!"

His Mission

Ron believes people have more capacity for healing than they realize. In his words: "Human beings are awesome creatures with enormous reservoirs of strength, knowledge and resilience. At times the challenges thrown at us can seem burdensome and overwhelming. It is my experience that we can tap into these marvelous resources and resolve our own challenges and inner conflicts. We just need to have understanding, empathetic support, and guidance to accomplish these things."
