About Elnore

Elnore Barber is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate at Olive Tree. Originally from Wisconsin, she has spent the last three years in Eastern North Carolina after living in Minnesota for four years. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with Minors in Child Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Leadership from the University of Minnesota, as well as a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from East Carolina University.

During graduate school, Elnore interned at the ECU Health Rehabilitation Center, providing therapeutic services to patients and their families as they adjusted to amputations, spinal cord injuries, and brain injuries. Elnore’s background has shaped her approach to allow consideration for all parts of an individual and the life in which they live.

Alongside her clinical work, Elnore enjoys spending time outdoors, baking, crocheting, reading, traveling, and long conversations over coffee. She lives in New Bern with her boyfriend Will and their cat.

Her Approach

Through the use of a systemic approach, Elnore considers the individual as well as the many external factors impacting their decisions, struggles, and life. Elnore primarily works with college-aged individuals, adults, and couples who face various mental health concerns and relational distress. She believes in collaborating with clients to create a path forward that often involves identifying emotional patterns and fostering strong, secure relationships.

Elnore works with clients experiencing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, caregivers, and those with disabilities (e.g., TBI, SCI). In addition, Elnore uses an integrative, systemic approach to collaborate with couples and families navigating emotional distance, trust issues, and various other difficulties.

Her Mission

As a marriage and family therapist, Elnore believes it is through healthy relationships that we grow as we share our stories, struggles, and strengths, allowing for deeper connection to the world in which we belong. Her goal is to use evidence-based, non-stigmatizing methods to convey a therapeutic stance focused on strengths and consideration of the entire person – not just their diagnosis or problems. She is here to guide, challenge, and learn with you as you take the first steps toward strengthening relationships and becoming your best self.
