About Cindy

Cindy Barker is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at Olive Tree, currently completing her master's degree at Liberty University. Before entering the counseling field formally, she built a meaningful foundation of experience working with children and families in several different capacities.

She worked as a Family Centered Treatment Therapist, providing intensive in-home therapy to families navigating behavioral challenges, trauma, and life transitions. She has also served as a Guardian Ad Litem, advocating for children and collaborating with schools, social services, and legal professionals on their behalf. Her background includes supporting military families through transitions and periods of adjustment, and she has mentored youth athletes for over 20 years.

Her Approach

Cindy works from a person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed foundation, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Her focus is on helping children, adolescents, and families build communication skills, resilience, and stability. For clients who want it, she offers a faith-integrated perspective as part of the therapeutic process.
