About Joe

Joe Hales is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern at Olive Tree Family Practice and a native of eastern North Carolina. He earned his degree in Philosophy with a minor in Psychology from East Carolina University and is currently completing his Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Colorado Christian University.

Before entering the counseling field, Joe built a career across accounting, legal services, healthcare, and turf grass management. That range isn't just an interesting footnote. It's given him a genuine ability to connect with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, and that shows up in the room with clients.

His Approach

Joe is EMDR-trained and takes a trauma-informed, insight-oriented approach to his work, drawing from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and existential therapy based on what each client needs. He focuses on creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen and heard, and his goal goes beyond helping people get through hard things. He wants to help them come out of it with real resilience and a clearer sense of where they're headed.
